1. The context you provide
You choose the month, the broad climate description closest to the site, growing space, direct sun, usable root depth, watering routine and experience. No account, street address or precise coordinate is required.
The model does not infer a climate from a postal code. latitude, elevation, coast or lake influence, cold-air drainage, snow cover, urban heat, soil, wind and water access can differ within the same broad profile.
2. Eight broad climate profiles
The 8 profiles are deliberate planning bands, not administrative zones or a substitute for a current forecast. The person growing selects the closest description and checks local frost, heat, rainfall and restrictions separately.
Planting windows come from an original thermal-group model prepared for this package. Official climate sources support context; their maps, station data and calendars are not copied into the rules.
3. The score
Each crop can receive up to 100 points. Season is the largest component, followed by direct sun, root space, watering compatibility and experience. Hard constraints can keep a crop out of the strongest group.
The score is a ranking device, not a probability of germination, survival, yield or harvest. Equal answers always produce equal results for the same package version.
- season: up to 40 points;
- direct sun: up to 20 points;
- space and usable depth: up to 20 points;
- watering routine: up to 12 points;
- experience: up to 8 points.
4. What accompanies a result
Every result carries reasons, cautions, a link to the full crop page and its evidence status. Editorial limits remain visible and the guidance is not presented as professional agronomic advice.
The planner never diagnoses a pest or disease and never prescribes a pesticide. Read the crop page, planting-material information and current official guidance before acting.
5. Local processing and data
Answers are compared in the browser and are not sent to a project account or saved as a profile. Reloading the page clears the temporary state.
Ordinary hosting requests may still expose technical information to infrastructure providers. The privacy and cookie pages describe the current candidate and must be updated before adding measurement or advertising.
Known limits and change control
Cultivar, microclimate, soil, elevation, current extremes, water rules and local plant-health requirements remain outside the model. First-harvest bands are editorial references, not guaranteed dates.
Editorial changes remain traceable in version control. Material corrections update the affected content and publication date.
